Orthopedic massage is a specialized form of massage therapy focused on treating soft tissue injuries and dysfunctions related to the musculoskeletal system – things like muscles, tendons, ligaments, and fascia. The main goals are to:
Reduce Pain
Restore function and movement
Support the healing process after injuries or surgeries
Prevent future issues by improving balance and alignment
A therapist trained in orthopedic massage usually assesses posture, movement patterns, and areas of dysfunction first, then creates a specific treatment plan tailored to the individual’s needs.
Orthopedic massage is assessment driven. It is usually specific work to musculoskeletal injuries such as frozen shoulder, rotator cuff tears, carpal tunnel, post-surgery rehab and injury prevention.
Deep tissue massage is focused on general muscle tension release, breaking up adhesions and improving blood flow.
Both modalities offer significant benefits and share overlapping qualities, yet each serves a distinct objective.
Manual Lymphatic Drainage (MLD) is a gentle, specialized technique designed to encourage the natural movement of lymph fluid through the body.
The lymphatic system is like your body’s “clean-up crew” -it helps remove waste, toxins, and excess fluids. Sometimes, due to surgery, injury, or illness, lymph flow gets slowed or blocked, causing swelling (called lymphedema) or other issues.
Key features of MLD:
Very light, rhythmic strokes (much lighter than regular massage)
Specific patterns and sequences to follow the direction of lymph flow.
Focuses on superficial layers (skin and just below it) rather than deep layers
Promotes detoxification, reduces swelling, and supports immune function.
Post session clients report feeling lighter, less puffy, and more energized after. Some might notice an increase in urination as the body flushes out waste. You may even notice a slight decrease on the scale as well. 🙂
It really depends on your individual goals. While many people start to feel better after just one or two sessions, it typically take 4 to 6 sessions to fully uncover multiple movement patterns and help you move more efficiently. Ongoing maintenance sessions are highly recommended to support long-term well-being.
I understand that unanticipated events happen occasionally in everyone’s life. In a effort to be effective and fair to all clients, the following policies are honored:
24 hour advanced notice is required when canceling an appointment. This allows the opportunity for someone else to schedule an appointment.
If you are unable to give me 24 hours advance notice, you will be charged the full amount of your appointment.
Fees will be waived in cases of contagious illness, if you are sick please stay home. Sharing is NOT always caring. 🙂
Anyone who forgets or consciously chooses to forgo their appointment will be considered a no show and will be charged the full amount for their missed appointment.
If you arrive late, your session will be shortened in order to accommodate appointments that follow yours. Regardless of the length of treatment actually given you will be responsible for the scheduled session.
Out of respect and consideration for me and others clients, please plan accordingly and be on time. In short, just be a good human!
